The 3D scanner is an incredible piece of technology. But for some reason manufacturers don't put a switch on the unit itself, relaying instead on a control on the PC. This makes it difficult to start a scan without being close (arms length) from your PC or laptop. So spent a few hours in the shed. What I have come up with is an old smartphone and a couple of photography bits and pieces. The phone uses a program called PC Remote this connects to your PC wirelessly allowing you to display and interact with your PC through your phone.
The whole thing was really easy to get setup and although the mouse cursor is a little slow it work perfectly. So well in fact that another 30 minutes or so in the shed and it now also fits my Mole scanner.
This along with the 3m extension I made up now means I can look to doing some much larger scans. I have been given to scan some of the internal fittings in a very old church locally so looking forward to that.
