Getting Old

Had a couple of extra heavy workdays this week, coming home after a full shift bent over a admittedly very large diesel engine is not good on your bones. But at the moment at least it pays the bills. Grandolphs Farm (The Shed) has been silent since the weekend but a few things have happened since my last post. The Zen Gnome was heavily cleaned up the layer lines become really prominent during this stage but as you will see with epoxy coating you can truly make a silk purse from a sows ear.

A good sand takes off most of the remaining surface imperfections. A coat of clear epoxy is applied and the whole gnome makes an appearance.

This week also saw the completion of The Hermit, a very small LED, the kind used by model railway enthusiast's to light signals. A bit of silicone shrubbery to disguise the base, all nestled in a glass dome. You will no doubt recognise this chap from a Led Zeppelin album cover.
