Hello from
Grandolph.
Just Some Random Old Guy in His Shed
I have set up this page to share with you my journey to retirement while living with the effects of long term depression, Winston Churchill once rereferred to his depression as his 'black dog', and it is a very good comparison. Please follow this link to find out more.

I first met my black dog in 1996, since that point I have spent the bulk of my life on various types of anti depressant or anti anxiety medication. I am now 60, and for the last 22 years mental health issues have ruled my life. I am writing this blog to share with you my journey out of the black hole and onward to retirement .

I want you all to appreciate this site for what it is. The story of some random old boy pottering around in his shed. Engineering has been part of my life for most of my adult life, and I still marvel at it's achievements today, that's why I have my shed. My shed is my one truly free space for here with the aid of modern technology I can design and build whatever I want, all be it on a limited scale, but never the less I can literally build anything. Follow me as we witness the highs and the lows the successes, and the failures.

I also want share with you my travels. Mrs G saves very hard each year. And we enjoy at least one long haul holiday experience a year. Here is where I hope to share with all of you, our experiences, and tips, for the budget conscious senior traveller.

Nothing in these pages is not designed to blame, hurt or embarrass anyone, I have done enough of that in my life already. Neither do I want sympathy or charity. Hopefully it may help the reader, and show them they are not alone, and the their struggles are being repeated by millions of people all around you, regardless of race, creed or culture, depression destroys lives. My black dog will I am sure raise it head from time to time, but still lets see how this goes, maybe just maybe I can help you and you can help me.
